Grants and Awards

Together with the abstract submission, participant may apply for one of the following grants and awards (depending on eligibility requirements):

RISING STAR

The WUWHS 2020 is glad to continue with awards for the ‘Rising Stars’ in Wound Healing.

For each of the scientific topic the Review Committee will select two abstracts of great interest and winners will be included as Speakers in the scheduled sessions. The ‘Rising Star’ authors will be offered a free registration to the Congress while travelling and subsistence expenses shall be borne by participants.

Rules to become a ‘Rising Star’

Authors who wish to apply to become a ‘Rising Star’ must point it out after the submission of their abstract sending an email to registration@wuwhs2020.com and indicating their Abstract ID and title of the abstract submitted.

Authors must be under 40 years old at the date of March, 8th 2020 and not in a Professor ranking.

WUWHS AWARDS

WUWHS will grant 7 Awards, consisting of 2,000 € each, for outstanding research projects presented during the congress.

Eligibility Requirements:

To be eligible for the award, the applicant:

  • must live in one of the 7 continents in which WUWHS is based (Africa, Australia, East Asia, Europe, North America, South America, West Asia)
  • must submit an abstract for the WUWHS 2020 congress within the given deadline;
  • must commit to personal attendance and presentation of the abstract if accepted for the grant;
  • the research must be an original work, not previously published and not being considered for publication elsewhere.


How to Apply:

To be considered for the award, applicants must point it out after the submission of their abstract sending an email to registration@wuwhs2020.com and indicating their Abstract ID number and title of the abstract submitted.

WUWHS 2020 Developing Countries Grants

Purpose:
It is our great pleasure to announce that the WUWHS 2020 Congress, with generous support from the Abu Dhabi Convention & Exhibition Bureau, will award a number of bursaries to provide assistance for young qualified participants coming from economically disadvantaged countries to attend the meeting.

The objective of the WUWHS 2020 Educational Grants is to support young delegates who would otherwise not be able to come to Abu Dhabi, by giving them the opportunity to present their work, to develop their skills and knowledge in wound care and to benefit from the participation in the global WUWHS community.

Eligibility Requirements:

To be eligible for a grant, the applicant:

  • must live in a developing country, as defined in the latest available classification of low-income and lower-middle income economies by the World Bank (see list of eligible countries);
  • must be a student not in an academic carrier;
  • must submit an abstract for the WUWHS 2020 congress within the given deadline;
  • must commit to personal attendance and presentation of the abstract if accepted for the grant;
  • must submit a motivation letter with clear statement of why financial support is required, and clear explanation of how attendance to the congress fits with his/her academic goal and career plans;
  • Grants will not be awarded for persons of the same institution

Grant Details:

  • Grants for up to AED 6,500 may be awarded.
  • The grants will cover: registration to the congress, travel in economy class (up to a maximum amount depending on the region of provenance), 4 nights accommodation in 3 stars hotels.
  • The grant will be administered directly by the WUWHS Secretariat that will provide the recipients with free registration, travel and accommodation. No funds will be paid to their personal bank accounts and granted person has to accept travel and accommodation offered; no changes or particular requests will be accepted.

How to Apply:

The application should enclose the following documents:

  • Short curriculum vitae
  • Proof of identity (e.g. copy of passport)
  • A two-page (maximum) motivation letter by the applicant describing why attending the WUWHS congress is relevant for him or her, and the particular educational objectives and career plans related to the congress
  • ID number and title of the abstract submitted (the applicant should be the presenting author)

All applications will be acknowledged. Any applications that do not comply with the formal requirements described in these guidelines will not be accepted/considered.
